Software Development Engineer - Integration Engineering

Position Overview

Zoom's Integration Engineering team is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design and build strategic integration features. This role is part of the IT Engineering department, leading an integration shared service team responsible for managing over 250 system-to-system integrations. You will work within a team of 9 software engineers in a multi-faceted domain, providing leadership and support for all internal and external integrations. Integrations are built using Rest APIs, Mulesoft, pub-sub, and file exchange via S3 or SFTP. This position is pivotal in architecting, designing, building, and supporting full-stack cloud-native solutions.

What We're Looking For

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or a related field.
• Experience: 7-10 years of overall experience.
• End-to-End Delivery: Proven experience in delivering end-to-end services or products, from requirement gathering and design to production deployment.
• Monitoring & Logging: Experience with application monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, ELK/Kibana, Datadog, and Prometheus, and practices to ensure performance and system observability.
• Cloud-Native Design: Knowledge of cloud-native system design, including exposure to reliability patterns like failovers, circuit breakers, and auto-scaling.
• Code Optimization: Ability to apply code optimization techniques to enhance the performance, reliability, and maintainability of services.
• AI Tools: Openness to leveraging AI tools (e.g., Copilot, GitHub Copilot) to improve development speed, code quality, and team productivity.

Responsibilities

• Core Development: Strong development background in Java, including JVM internals, multithreading, concurrency, I/O, and network programming.
• Integration Technologies: Experience with Kafka, RESTful APIs, and Microservices is required.
• Microservices & Middleware: Experience building Microservices, implementing message queues, and processing services via enterprise middleware like Mulesoft.
• DevOps Practices: Solid understanding of DevOps practices with hands-on experience using tools like Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, and CI/CD workflows.
• Mentorship: Experience mentoring junior engineers, conducting effective code reviews, and supporting career growth through structured feedback and guidance.
