Requirements
Authorization to work in the United States (no sponsorship for work visas)
Ability to work at least three days in the office per week (including Tuesdays and Wednesdays), with flexibility up to five days based on needs
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent related work experience
Master’s degree preferred
Three (3) plus years related experience required, preferably within the utility industry
Knowledge of power systems, communications (Modbus, DNP3, TCP/IP, etc.), and basic electricity
Ability to analyze data and information pertaining to electric metering, determine facts, and make decisions
Thorough knowledge and understanding of state and national electric codes
Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of the organization and with external counterparts
Responsibilities
Work on a variety of metering installations, including nonstandard, complex industrial/commercial, municipal, special contract, cogeneration, mandated load study, and research metering
Establish projects, design installations, specify equipment, evaluate bids, order equipment, schedule delivery, establish requirements, coordinate and oversee installation
Instruct and train staff and/or area metering personnel in testing and installation of equipment
Plan, develop, and participate in implementing standardized and specialized policies, procedures, programs, specifications, methods, testing, and requirements for electric metering on the Eversource System
Provide engineering and technical expertise to others
Explain concepts of new metering equipment to customers, management, engineering, computer, and technical personnel
Review distributed generation projects to ensure metering meets Eversource standards and requirements
Create processes or procedures related to meter reviews and work orders
Provide engineering and technical expertise to field forces engaged in approved electric metering programs and procedures
Oversee and participate in testing and evaluation of new meters and equipment, providing recommendations
Study, analyze, and recommend new concepts in metering
Participate in developing standardized test procedures and schedules for electric meters, associated devices, instrument transformers, and test equipment
Design and develop standard metering-installation methods and procedures for approval
Provide functional and/or on-site assistance, guidance, and instruction in analyzing and resolving incorrect metering (e.g., due to defective equipment, improper installation, incorrect application)
Provide engineering and technical expertise and counsel to other departments on installation, operation, and costs of meters and related equipment
Participate in developing metering requirements, procedures, and design of metering systems for interconnecting companies, railroads, municipals, and sale-for-resale customers
Provide work direction to lower-level technical personnel
