Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferred in emergency management, business administration, public administration, fire administration, political science, or related field); equivalent combination of experience and education may substitute
  • Successful completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 300, 400 and National Incident Management System (NIMS) 700 and 800 training required
  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) certification preferred
  • Certification as a trainer for NIMS or ICS training preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and insurable under RHSHC insurance policy

Responsibilities

  • Organize the Emergency Management and Safety program
  • Ensure planning, budgeting, training, and programming related to emergency preparedness/safety and response functions within regulatory guidelines
  • Serve as a liaison with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure compliance
  • Develop, implement, manage, and continually improve hospital-wide emergency preparedness, fire safety, community response plans, and programs to improve the organization's ability to respond to emergencies, effectively manage incidents, and systematically restore the hospital to full operation following adverse events
  • Assist in development and implementation of safety policies
  • Conduct inspections
  • Investigate incidents to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
