Requirements

  • Active-duty US service member eligible for DoD SkillBridge Internship (within last 12 months of active-duty contract)
  • HS diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience at 3PL, freight brokerage, or other relevant area
  • Basic understanding of brokerage operations and geographic freight markets
  • Proficient in MS Office and ability to navigate various web-based systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to pass background investigation

Responsibilities

  • Engage carriers to sell freight and develop relationships with new and existing carriers in support of customer base
  • Interview carriers and capture data regarding preferred lanes and network to find collaboration opportunities
  • Negotiate rates with carriers
  • Book, track, and update loads using internal TMS system and various customer portals
  • Retrieve/upload BOLs/PODs and other documents from carriers
  • Distribute Comchecks for lumpers, fees, etc
  • Research and identify new carriers, including new carrier set-ups via RMIS
  • Maintain daily contact with carrier base and develop a managed portfolio of “owned carriers”
  • Assist in maintaining knowledge of market trends and updating regional pricing
  • Effectively communicate updates to Account Manager and teammates
  • Resolve carrier conflicts that occur in-transit
  • Other duties as assigned by manager
