Position Overview:

We are seeking a Data Scientist specializing in machine learning to join our expanding CTO Labs team, working at the intersection of Machine Learning, Big Data, and Security. This role offers the opportunity to apply coding, mathematical, and scientific research skills to cutting-edge security technology, leveraging large-scale, rich data to improve supervised learning models and identify malicious computer software and behavioral threats.

About the Role:

You will work with CrowdStrike's unique cybersecurity data, processing nearly a trillion behavioral events per day and utilizing over 2000 terabytes of malware samples. This role provides a chance to collaborate with experts in Big Data, Machine Learning, and Security to tackle challenging and impactful problems.

Responsibilities:

• Mine large-scale and high-dimensional data, identify patterns, and visualize trends.
• Create predictive models using supervised learning techniques to detect and stop sophisticated threats.
• Innovate new semi-supervised and online learning techniques to enhance threat detection capabilities and reduce false positives.
• Collaborate closely with domain experts to improve raw data and derive greater value from collected data.
• Support detail-oriented research with goal-oriented business objectives.
• Implement and experiment with new algorithms and methodologies to improve machine learning models.
• Automate and visualize analyses, results, and processes within the machine learning pipeline.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Data Science, or a related STEM field.
• Extensive post-undergraduate or undergraduate experience in data science, machine learning, or any field employing computational science or data-driven analyses.
• Programming experience in Python.
• 2+ years of experience working on real-world machine learning models and pipelines.

Bonus Points:

• Passion for cybersecurity with a firm understanding of the problem space, or passion for applying machine learning skills to new domains.
• Proficiency in Machine Learning techniques and familiarity with standard algorithms, their trade-offs, usage, and tuning.
• Experience working with very large datasets of sparse, high-dimensional data, including pre-processing and analysis for actionable insights.
• An independent self-starter who takes ownership and seeks out new challenges.
• Eagerness to learn new technologies, algorithms, and concepts outside of your comfort zone.
• Comfortable diving into Python codebases, including experience with unit testing and the Python packaging ecosystem.
• Experience working in a Linux environment within the AWS cloud.
• Analytical mindset, unafraid to drill down into datasets or debug unfamiliar codebases.
