Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine learning, Data Science, Operations Research, or Computer Science, or a related field, with at least 10 years of relevant experience or an Associate’s degree with at least 12 years of relevant experience. A Bachelor’s degree in a physical/hard science field with a substantial computational component, including 5 or more courses in advanced Mathematics and/or computer science, may be considered. United States citizenship and position-appropriate security clearance, such as an Active TS/SCI security clearance with agency-appropriate polygraph, are required.
The Data Scientist will devise strategies for extracting meaning and value from large datasets, make and communicate principled conclusions from data using various scientific methods, develop and implement qualitative and quantitative methods for characterizing and assessing large datasets, translate practical mission needs into technical requirements, and assist others with drawing appropriate conclusions from data analysis. They will also effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences, maintain awareness of Agency data capabilities and limitations, and employ a combination of skill areas including Foundations, Data Processing, and Modeling, Inference, and Prediction to address analytic questions.
