The Motley Fool is seeking a Senior Python Developer to develop APIs and microservices using Python-based frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building scalable and highly available APIs consumed by tens of thousands to millions of users daily. Significant experience in data caching strategies, asynchronous processes, and query and index tuning for system optimization is required.

This role involves actively coding with cutting-edge technologies and leading a team of engineers to develop and enhance microservices powering customer-facing investing data and tools, from real-time market data to cryptocurrencies. Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and execution of The Motley Fool’s investing microservices, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Be responsible for systems and data core to investing products, website, tools, and subscribers, including:
    • US and international market data
    • Portfolio holdings and returns
    • Corporate actions
    • Company fundamentals
    • Crypto, Options, and IPOs
    • Automated aggregation of subscriber portfolios across brokerages
  • Manage in-house systems for trading compliance and holdings disclosures.
  • Integrate with various third-party providers and tools.
  • Ensure accuracy of calculations through automated tests.
  • Maintain freshness and high availability of critical data with failover capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the team’s product owner and project manager to ensure shovel-ready work with clear value and acceptance criteria.
