Requirements
- High school diploma/GED/equivalent degree (tractor trailer driving school completion accepted instead of or in addition to)
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
- Must be insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of initial and continued employment
- At least 1 year of Class A experience (delivery experience preferred)
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, Hazmat guidelines, and safe lifting and delivery practices
- Skill in driving over long distances, over a variety of terrains and in varying weather conditions, communicating with customers, solving problems, and delivering product
- Ability to drive a tractor-trailer unit both day and night in various traffic and weather conditions while remaining alert; meet or exceed minimum productivity levels; handle hazardous materials and food
Responsibilities
- Unload product from trailer by hand or using a hand cart down ramps, stairs, or docks in all weather conditions and place in designated customer storage areas according to customer specifications and company standards (e.g., handling product per preferred methods, scanning product as delivered)
- Ensure all paperwork is completed according to company and governmental guidelines (e.g., DOT electronic or manual logs, inspections, vehicle maintenance reports, pre- and post-trip reports completed accurately and timely; invoices accurate and turned in daily; damages and shortages reported promptly)
- Ensure all food safety protocols are met (e.g., maintain proper temperatures in delivery vehicle, inspect product for damages prior to delivery, deliver and store to prevent cross-contamination) and maintain sanitary conditions in tractor, trailer, warehouse, and yard
- Develop and establish good relationships with customers by providing excellent and courteous service with clear communication
- Other duties as assigned by Management
