Mozilla Corporation, backed by a non-profit, is seeking Software Engineers to join the Firefox team. This role is open to recent graduates up to senior-level engineers passionate about collaborative open-source development and improving the Firefox web browser for desktop and mobile devices. You will be a core team member working on improving existing features, implementing new ones, analyzing performance, synthesizing bug reports, ensuring standards alignment, and enhancing data collection for better decision-making.

Requirements

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to create excellent documentation
  • Proficiency in C++, JavaScript, and/or Rust
  • Some knowledge of HTML and/or CSS
  • Motivation to learn new tools and techniques for improving existing software
  • BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Interest in multi-threaded systems, performance analysis, and optimization

Additional Qualifications (Nice to Have):

  • Familiarity with parsing (e.g., compilers, DBMSes)
  • Experience with multi-threaded systems, performance analysis, and optimization
  • Experience migrating a codebase to Rust
  • History of working with distributed teams
  • Experience working with a large codebase

Responsibilities

  • Improving existing Firefox features.
  • Working with multi-disciplinary teams to implement entirely new features.
  • Analyzing performance problems in Firefox to identify areas that need improvement.
  • Synthesizing bug reports into actionable tasks.
  • Ensuring Firefox aligns with relevant standards and works with real websites.
  • Increasing the quality of the data collected to enable better decisions.
