Requirements
Candidates should possess 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer on a team, ideally with some experience as a technical lead or mentor, and a mastery of modern web development including JavaScript/Typescript, HTML, and CSS. They should also be able to quickly learn in areas where they lack deep expertise and confidently write tests, delivering stable and performant software. Prior experience with Java is beneficial, though not required, along with familiarity with Svelte and other modern front-end JavaScript frameworks.
Responsibilities
The Senior Software Engineer will modify existing systems, take ownership of current systems, and contribute to greenfield projects, troubleshooting issues as they arise. They will work on tastytrade's front-end trading client applications using Svelte, contribute to the Java-based core front-end trading logic library, transform business requirements into production-quality code, collaborate with UX and Product teams to improve customer workflows, provide technical leadership to junior team members, deliver peer reviews, create proof-of-concept implementations, scale existing technology, write comprehensive tests, and support application development with necessary infrastructure work.
