Senior Infrastructure Security Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Security Engineer to build core security tooling for platforms handling sensitive personal financial data. This role involves partnering with technical teams, advising on secure design patterns for cloud and corporate infrastructure, and leading initiatives to mitigate infrastructure security risks. The Senior Infrastructure Security Engineer will proactively monitor cloud environments, define and monitor cloud security posture, respond to security incidents, and develop and deploy security controls. This role reports to a Business Information Security Officer (BISO).

Requirements

• 5+ years of infrastructure security experience in a professional environment.
• Strong foundation in infrastructure security, including network, host, and cloud technologies (specifically AWS).
• Proficiency in writing Python scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform.
• Ability to write and review code.
• Basic knowledge of Kubernetes.
• Effective communication of security risk impact to business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Keep NerdWallet systems secure by proactively monitoring cloud environments for security events and anomalies.
• Define and monitor our cloud security posture, identifying and remediating potential gaps or vulnerabilities.
• Investigate security incidents, determine root causes, and implement prompt remediation actions.
• Identify areas of opportunity and help develop and deploy best-in-class security controls and measures for cloud-based infrastructure and services.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance.
• Take informed risks to move the business forward, acting with urgency for long-term risk mitigation or remediation.
