Bastion enables financial institutions and enterprises to issue regulated stablecoins, generate revenue on reserves, and expand their ecosystems. Bastion’s platform combines stablecoin issuance, secure custody, and seamless orchestration for cross-border transfers, on/off-ramps, and stablecoin conversions. With Bastion’s platform and APIs, businesses can create and scale their stablecoin network, while optimizing revenue, compliance, and control.

As our first Compliance Engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining critical Compliance tooling and infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and compliance, working closely with both functions to implement our compliance technology strategy with a focus on cross-border payments and institutional-grade compliance automation. This role is pivotal in scaling our compliance systems, which are paramount to our business objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional engineering experience, startup experience a plus.
  • Coding Abilities: Strong coding abilities in core backend technologies, including but not limited to relevant languages (Typescript, Go) and database technologies (Snowflake, Postgres).
  • Compliance Tooling: Proven experience building critical compliance tooling in a fast-paced environment, ideally in the blockchain or fintech space.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: Customer-centric mindset, with a demonstrated ability to turn high-level product requirements into elegant, scalable, and robust technical solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working with complex, cross-functional teams including product, legal, risk, and operations to drive compliance initiatives from concept to production.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks (AML, KYC, GDPR) and how they impact product development and operational workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, and maintain systems responsible for financial exam reporting, which directly integrate with blockchain technology.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement elegant solutions, ensuring alignment with best practices and the company's overarching strategy.
  • Integrate with blockchain technologies and protocols, emphasizing secure connections, data flow, and adaptability to the evolving needs of the business.
  • Continuously stay updated with the latest trends in backend and blockchain development, ensuring Bastion is using optimal technology.
  • Establish a scalable architecture to support current business needs, while remaining adaptable to future customer demands and market trends.
