AI Tutor - Environmental Science (Contract, Remote)

Position Overview

Handshake is seeking an AI Tutor specializing in Environmental Science to contribute to the development of AI that understands climate data, sustainability topics, and ecological systems. Your expertise will ensure the scientific soundness and data-driven nature of AI outputs in environmental contexts. This is a contract, remote position with variable time commitments.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate environmental science-related content and feedback from AI trainers.
• Ensure alignment with real-world scientific principles and data.
• Provide expert input on climate science, ecosystems, and policy-oriented topics.
• Work with cross-functional teams to enhance annotation tools.
• Adapt quickly to new domains and content formats.

Requirements

• Education: PhD (or ABD) in Environmental Science, Ecology, Earth Science, or a related discipline.
• Skills:
  • Skilled in technical writing and scientific communication.
  • Strong analytical and systems-level thinking.
  • Passion for climate innovation and technological impact.
• Experience (Preferred):
  • Familiarity with environmental datasets and modeling.
  • Research experience with published work in a reputable journal.
  • Previous AI tutoring experience.
  • Teaching experience (professor, teacher, or tutor).
  • Experience in technical writing, journalism, or professional writing.

Additional Requirements

• Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new skills and evolving requirements.
• Device Requirements: Personal device must support Windows 10 or macOS Big Sur 11.0 or later.
• Reliable access to a smartphone.

Location & Work Expectations

• Location: Fully remote position.
• Visa Sponsorship: No visa sponsorship available.
• Hiring Restrictions: Not hiring in Wyoming or Illinois at this time.

Compensation

• Hourly Rate: $55/hr - $100/hr
• Note: Compensation ranges are set for all U.S.-based roles and are benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location, candidate experience, and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed.
