Position Overview

Roofr is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to join our growing team. We are a customer-obsessed company focused on building innovative products for the roofing industry. Our CRM platform connects essential sales tools, payments, material ordering, and more into a seamless, powerful business management solution. As an Engineer in an early-stage, high-growth company, you will have a significant impact on both technical implementation and steering our technology roadmap.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Lead a team of engineers to build future Roofr products and technology.
  • Contribute to growing the engineering team in a fast-paced organization.
  • Collaborate with product teams to develop the product and technology roadmap.
  • Contribute organization-wide standards and develop team-level processes for software and technical methodologies.
  • Work in an early-stage company with an engineering-first culture.
  • Evaluate existing engineering tools and processes and recommend improvements.
  • Recommend and prototype new technologies to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Mentor the engineering team and help grow their skills.
  • Ensure high-quality deliverables and testing standards are met.
  • Analyze requirements and provide technical and functional recommendations.

What You'll Bring to the Role:

  • 7+ years of software development experience.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Enjoy managing a team while still contributing as an individual.
  • Champion of agile methodologies and confident in shipping code frequently.
  • Excels at organizing engineering plans, scheduling, and budgets.
  • Ability to coach and mentor individuals by establishing performance improvement goals.
  • Track record of breaking down complex problems into incremental solutions.
  • Proactively recommends initiatives to improve engineering technologies and culture.
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative environment where everyone helps each other grow.
  • Takes ownership of the product and is proud of the quality of their work.
  • Excellent communication skills and an appreciation for good documentation.
  • Understands the challenges of early-stage company priorities.
  • Desire to be an individual contributor while focusing on the bigger picture.
  • Understands the challenges and strategy of rebuilding legacy systems.
  • Proven experience leading an engineering team with dedication to growing both the team and individuals.
  • Understands microservice architecture and creating scalable platforms.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with PHP language and the Laravel framework.
  • Experience with JavaScript language and the React framework.
  • Knowledgeable in database technologies and domain design.
  • Experience building frontend testing and automation systems (unit tests, integration tests, regression tests, user acceptance tests).
