They should be self-motivated, comfortable with ambiguity, and confident in their ability to learn quickly, particularly regarding complex topics like mortgage and software engineering. Strong typing skills, including familiarity with Haskell, Rust, and Idris, along with a deep understanding of SQL, are also required.
Candidates should possess 7-12 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally in B2B fintech, mortgage, or financial services, with a deep understanding of GAAP and mortgage accounting, including loan origination, funding, servicing, and securitization. Previous ownership of month-end close, audits, compliance, and financial reporting is required, along with experience with loan accounting software and financial systems, and a CPA is preferred but not required.
Candidates should possess 2-5 years of experience as a Loan Officer, Loan Processor, or in customer support, ideally within the mortgage industry, and demonstrate a strong understanding of mortgage processes, terminology, and regulations such as underwriting guidelines, TRID timelines, and third-party services. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with empathy, patience, and a customer-first attitude, are required.
